As I read through the pages of this book, I see Jarvis at work, Jarvis at Play, Jarvis in action, and Jarvis in contemplation. You are Jarvis, its dedicated staff and its industrious, conscientious students. It has been interesting and encouraging to watch you through the 1964-65 year, growing in stature and ability to see and solve your own problems. This, to me, is a big part of education. There is no mass education! There is only education of the individual. The educational system can supply the building, and the teachers. Teachers and books can supply the facts, but only you can put them to work, to improve your understanding of life around you and to equip you to solve those problems of everyday living which bring happiness, satisfaction, and peace.

In no other age has there been a greater need for sound thinking. No group of young people have had a better opportunity to obtain knowledge, to put into practice those ideas and ideals which are so greatly needed in this fact [sic] changing world. I envy your youth and opportunities.

You at Jarvis this years [sic] have held high those traditions which have made Jarvis great. I am proud of the contribution you have made in every phase of school life.

May I congratulate the editors and their assistants for the efforts they have put forth in making this another outstanding Magnet.
